Got my BA, now what?

How to add value you to your liberal arts degree and snatch that perfect job: My journey towards a career in social media and web marketing

catwchang

Hi! My name is Catherine Chang.

After receiving my BA in Psychology and Political Science from the University of Michigan in 2008, I had little idea that I was about to embark on an exciting journey into the world of graphic design, social media, and marketing.

I am currently a marketing assistant at a commercial real estate firm located in Palo Alto, California. I am responsible for the creation of postcards, flyers, marketing proposals, power points, e-mail campaigns, etc. for the entire Multi-Family Division.

My blog is dedicated to sharing my experience as a recent graduate with a liberal arts degree striving to establish a meaningful career in web marketing. Many people with a liberal arts degree, even those from prestigious institutions, often end up struggling to come to terms with what they can and cannot achieve in terms of employment and careers upon graduation. My goal is to address these issues with practical realism and a dose of my own advice on how to add value to your BA.

Now, fight off that urge to go to law school!

By the way, check out www.catwchang.com for my online portfolio. Other then blogging, I also spend a great deal of free time experimenting and learning new Photoshop techniques. I am also a freelance English to Chinese/Chinese to English translator in my spare time.
